    Ask about anything related to Dwarf Fortress - including the game, utilities, bugs, problems you're having, mods, etc. You will get fast and friendly responses in this thread.

    Read the sidebar before posting! It has information on a range of game packages for new players, and links to all the best tutorials and quick-start guides. If you have read it and that hasn't helped, mention that!

    You should also take five minutes to search the wiki - if tutorials or the quickstart guide can't help, it usually has the information you're after. You can find the previous questions thread here.

    Haven’t played in a very long time thinking of returning and have a couple of questions

    I have not played this game in probably over a year thinking about re-downloading the game lazy noob pack and was wondering how much has changed. I see there of been many updates but I don't know if that's for the up-and-coming steam release or For the present version for example dragging a box to make bedrooms etc. please let me know

    My former adventurer just migrated to my fortress... Not good... Not good at all... !FUN!

    I played an evil-vampire-necromancer-badass very strong wrestler for a while and after getting tired of his over powered skills, I retired him at his tower and started a peaceful fortress... just another one... some projects and setups I wanted to try out...

    When the third or fourth migrants wave arrived, I noticed a ranger necromancer in the group. But it wasn't one of the names of my former adventurer.

    Check his skills: might be him
    Check his kills with Therapist (couldn't find the kills in fortress mode and I was too busy with an automated refilling cistern project to search the wiki): no kill, that's not him.
    Well, cool, I guess necromancer citizens are pretty useful. Let's continue to work on those pressure plates...

    And shortly after: here we go, Urist Uzolmubun, Pale Hunter has been found dead. Likot McMigrant, Peasant has been found dead. Along with seven others. All killed by raised wild boars. Oh dear, oh dear, let's check again on this guy more seriously.

    Check his wounds: broken nose, no more upper front teeth, broken right wirst. Hello my dear fellow!
    (And then I also found where the IG kill list was...)

    I don't feel like expelling him. My plan is to lock him up in a tower near the main gate, with fortifications and bridges. I would open the bridges when besieged and let him raise corpses for more !FUN!. Maybe throw him some blood barrels from time to time with a minecart dump system.

    He also could be a great warrior/trainer in the military, or a mega speedy stone hauler (it's very funny looking at him sprinting everywhere).

    What would you do with such a guy?

    Alternative ideas strange mood

    I was thinking it would be interesting if we had strange moods that didn't revolve around producing artifacts.

    *Farmer strange mood grow a crossbreed of plant

    *Priest summon an angel, demon, or become a demigod/diety

    *Guild member learn a skill from another civilization like whip making

    *Woodcutter learn the elven secrets of wood one recipe at a time like grown barrels

    *Miners learn to increase the output of stone or ore

    *Animal trainers learn to call a certain exotic animal and instantly domesticate a mating pair

    *Soldier strange mood learn a killing blow against a type of enemy(goblines, elves, humans, etc.)

    *Dancers/poets learn a mesmerizing dance that refills all needs

    *Doctors learn to regrow body parts of the worst injured dwarf

    Just a few ideas. What do you think?
