My sister made me this mug!

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 01:41 PM PDT

I read about a dwarf who dragged his entrails around behind him, never thought it would happen to me...

Meet Melbil. At some point, I think she died to a cave crocodile, but a friendly necromancer (one of three) that had moved to my fortress resurrected her as a Grim Hunter, a type of intelligent undead that can't feel anything. She was apparently stitched back together, but, well...

Yeah. Those grey tildes? Those are her intestines that she drags around everywhere. Doesn't slow her down at all, what a trooper.

    Meph Pack .47 Question

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 06:47 AM PDT

I've been playing for years but I've never tried modding on my own, only using packs. I saw Meph updated this pack and decided to play on the new version, but I also want to try my hand at modding. If I mod the game and at a later date decide to re-configure my launcher settings, is there a way my mods would break? If so, how do I get around this?

On a similar but onrelated note, does anyone know if the invading civs or the bugfixes in the "invaders" and "additions" tab are updated for .47?

    Keeping track of temples

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 11:59 AM PDT

Anyone have a clever way of keeping track of temples? I always end up with 10+ gods in my pantheon and find it incredibly difficult to keep track of who I've built a temple to and who I haven't.

    Festival Burrows

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 10:03 PM PDT

Saw this trick in a Kruggsmash YouTube video (3:38 to 4:27 of Episode 3 of Honeystoker).

He makes a burrow called "Autumn Festival" and activates it every autumn. It restricts dwarves to only their bedrooms, food/drink stockpiles, and relaxing parts of the fortress. It prevents them from reaching their workshops and the mines, so that they are free to have fun and enjoy themselves. It makes is easy to help dwarves meet praying needs and socialization needs without having to mess with labor settings of every dwarf.

If you don't know how to use burrows, there's info on using them on the wiki.

And since the wiki doesn't seem to cover it this part, after setting up the burrow, there are two ways to activate it:

    1. Manually assign dwarves to the festival burrow one-by-one. (w-c)
    2. Go into the military alerts and activate the burrow for everyone at once (m-a right arrow twice to select your burrow, then press the return key)

Linux LNP 0.47.04 (with dfHack & TWBT)

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 03:16 PM PDT

Kudos to u/CarterScottM and his thread

I have made an attempt at updating his pack to DF version 47.04.

I haven't tested everything, and it comes with my personal settings, but I hope some of you still find it useful.

    Download here

Edit: I've used an old TWBT on accident - Updated TWBT and dfHack versions

    Well that's peculiar.

My necromancer who randomly migrated to our fort a while ago is pissed because she can't drink alcohol (necromancers don't need to drink so they don't). Seems like i can't balance this out without using hacks.

    Trade exploits

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 03:58 PM PDT

Just wanted to hear the communities thoughts. I personally believe producing trap components for trade is an exploit, and I think that one is fairly widely acknowledged. Just wanted to see how people felt about prepared foods. I feel like it is a very very easy way to generate a lot of wealth almost to the point of being an exploit, and am considering not using it anymore. (Note: Dwarf fortress is a single player game, I do not judge those who use these methods, this is merely how I view them for my personal play, and I want a feel for what other people think.)

Newbie df player here, third fortress after the first one had a corrupted save and the second one was abandoned. Had my first one of these, forgot to build a lever for my draw bridge,heh- zombies made quick work of that quirk. Veteran df players, how did your fortress get ruined?
