The most 'what?' moment yet (for me)

Everything was going well in blazefloors, the first ever fortress with disco floors (I presume) in the plane of truth.
Suddenly I got a warning that the dead walk, but there were 0 enemies. How could this be? A few minutes pass by, and nothing. Then another warning. A necromancer soapmaker! I scan around and see him...
He's badly paddling upstream and scared the hell out of a cat that was having a drink as he broke surface.
And then he disappeared. It's been 2 seasons. No body, nothing. I assume he got washed down-stream somewhere.
Honestly I've never been more confused about a save than at that moment.
