    ☼Bi-weekly DF Questions Thread☼

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 04:07 PM PST

Ask about anything related to Dwarf Fortress - including the game, utilities, bugs, problems you're having, mods, etc. You will get fast and friendly responses in this thread.

Read the sidebar before posting! It has information on a range of game packages for new players, and links to all the best tutorials and quick-start guides. If you have read it and that hasn't helped, mention that!

You should also take five minutes to search the wiki - if tutorials or the quickstart guide can't help, it usually has the information you're after. You can find the previous questions thread here.

If you can answer questions, please sort by new and lend a hand - linking to a helpful resource (eg wiki page) is fine.

The Story of Archweaken aka Hamlet Rovodothil

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 01:29 AM PST

Well... The fort was fine. Started in year 5. Dwarves nearly died to thrist because I didnt make pots for the booze to go into. Thanks to FF and a kind gentleman who realised that the fort went from 0 alcohol to 500 alcohol. That was the prime of the fort. So, going to the next year, we sent our 6 trained dwarves to demand tribute from a 20 goblin dungeon. Only one kind person said to be prepared for lots of fun. Well the second one said to be prepared for santa claus.

    Well heres the fun.

    The Main Area

As you can see 66 dead out of which there were some 20 dwarves and umm 3 goblins dead.

They jumped down the moat which I didnt dig enough and climbed the stairs which my dwarves used while digging. My expedition leader, bold and adamant of course could'nt stop fishing so he died, following which all the dwarves in the burrow died once the goblins rushed in.

Here is the last survivor. A broken leg and 4 broken toes. A goblin waits for her.

Was a good fort. Good trades, good food, good culture, sad defense. Thats where we end it. hope the last one dies soon.

Edit 1, I failed to mention this but they came with 54 units. some beak dogs and 8 or so trolls in them. I didnt expect this big a siege from like all the goblins. Of all things, such big siege...

I REALLY want to know how this one goes

How do you track how long your fortress has been going.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 11:37 AM PST

I don't know that you can find out when you started a fortress. So i build a hallway and each year I put a statue in it so I can see how many years I have been playing. What does everyone else do? I have never been able to make it past year 10 but that's my goal.

    Showerthought about the raiding feature:

    Posted: 12 Dec 2019 03:01 PM PST

We're sending a small group of semi-elite dwarves against a big enemy site maybe even composing of hundred of hostiles.

We're literally sending them on an MMO raid.
