Been poking around the game trying to grasp the UI and controls so I haven't really "played" a fortress yet. But now I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna start an actual fortress and run it until I lose!

Part of me is dreading how spectacularly it's going to fail. But I really want to experience the !!fun!! that this game has to offer.

Wish my poor dorfs a merciful death!

EDIT: Oh I forgot to say, I'll definitely post how this travesty plays out after I lose.

I finally saw today that when dorfs in a fey mood are in the workshop, they will scream for the items they want. I never realized that before, and assumed that you just had to hope that you had the right materials on hand. Well this most recent one wanted cut gems, and I hadn't created any yet. But upon seeing his screams I hastily built a workshop and avoided the fun! that normally kills my forts early on.
