Ask about anything related to Dwarf Fortress - including the game, utilities, bugs, problems you're having, mods, etc. You will get fast and friendly responses in this thread.

Read the sidebar before posting! It has information on a range of game packages for new players, and links to all the best tutorials and quick-start guides. If you have read it and that hasn't helped, mention that!

I'm a df noob that wanted to get back into the game after browsing the sub off and on.

So I downloaded df. Set out my embark as carefully as I could after generating a world and getting familiar with the ui again.

I dug out a small stockpile to get everything we brought inside and set a few trees to be chopped down. I set a layout for the bedrooms and watched a dorf mine the bedrooms.

Not even before the minerdwarf got to the first wall of the bedroom I got a notification saying "urist woodcutter is dead".

Urist chopped a tree down, it fell on his leg opening up an artery and killed him on the first day.

I'm flabbergasted.
