Dwarf Fortress new trade screen! |
- new trade screen!
- A monster hunter "spear" dwarf is walking around my caves carrying a scepter.
- Analysis Paralysis
- I've been having trouble keeping track of the years in my game, so I made a calendar! It has all of the months, time of season, date of each full moon, caravan type for each season and Gregorian equivalent for both Northern and Southern Hemispheres! Enjoy :)
- DevLog 15 June 2021: ". . . I've mostly been working on the trade screen. It's basically at a good spot now. . .."
- Part 9 of the Crowdkitchens saga is now live!
- First tree my carpenter chopped down: "wait, why is there a combat log?"
- Lovely artifacts being made in my first serious fortress :)
- Most insane story?

Posted: 16 Jun 2021 11:40 AM PDT I still consider myself a beginner at Dwarf Fortress, but I have a personality type that loves to obsessively probe & learn systems, so Dwarf Fortress represented a large repository of systems to learn for the sake of learning. Lately I haven't been playing as much. I have loaded up a bunch of different worlds, stared at them, poked around a bit but ended up never unpausing and I quit without saving any changes. Until now I've designed every single fortress around teaching myself whichever mechanics I feel I have not yet learned. Now I'm at the point where I need to collect all that I have learned and use it to play a fortress that exists for its own sake, and I find myself completely stuck. Now that I have a basic understanding of most of the key systems in this game, deciding a way forward and committing to a plan has become profoundly more difficult In the last few weeks I've created three different forts, and on each of them I stalled on year 3 and I start to feel directionless, or like I'm just doing chores. Despite this, I still think about Dwarf Fortress a lot, and I still want to play. I don't feel done with this game yet, I've just hit a weird wall where my approach to the game is no longer compatible with how I need to play going forward. I'd be curious to find out if anyone has a similar kind of wall during their time with the game, and what they ended up learning from it. [link] [comments] | ||
