    Customizing the Manager

    So I have been playing with the manager settings. Exporting and understanding what each option means and looking at how to tweak it. I have figured out how to specify "bags" like the milling jobs use instead of using "sewn-imageless items". I have also accidentally specified leather rope though I haven't tested out if it will actually make one it did not give me an error on import.

    I am thinking about writing a guide for editing them. For making manager orders it is easier to do it in the individual workshops for me as the menus are easier to digest. It is as simple as exporting the work orders and deleting one bit of code to make them available for all workshops. This makes it so that you can quickly create an individual workshop profile for use anywhere in the fort.

    I am curious as to how much interest there would be in being able to customize the manager orders a bit more than the built-in menu allows assuming my testing proves that all the options react as intended.

    By importing each workshop one by one if you have a map with 0 sand then you could skip importing the glass workshop for example.

    My hope is to better customize the manager to be more responsive and accurate. Another option I like is I can create a cloth version and in seconds convert it to yarn and silk, and by knowing the creature id for cougar men can specify all clothing be sized to fit everyone. This will be very important for me when it comes to cloning a large order for the armor/weapons of all types as I will eventually do that I can quickly tweak depending on what metals I find on my maps.

    I also want to see if I can filter out some materials that don't normally work correctly.

    I will be testing it out more this week. Notice it doesn't say "boxes and Bags"

    Just hopped on to the DF bandwagon, still no idea what I am doing, mainlining human adventurer peasant outsider on the regular, dying a LOT and having a blast, thrilled to have experienced this title before the end of days.

    Thanks to all involved with keeping this sandbox alive. You were right, that is all.
