    Your experiences regarding crashes

    So my last 12+ fortresses have ended because at some point in the game time it crashes and theres nothing I can do to prevent it. Sometimes I get 8 years other times I dont even get 2. I use DFHack but the crashes occur in the vanilla too.

    This has actually gotten to be very depressing for me. A fortress starts to develop a unique story and then the window closes and its over. I now play with no expectation that I will get a good game out of a fortress but I still do play and cant help get sucked into it. I've tried getting into other games because of this but DF is really the only video game I want to play.

    Is this common? What are your experiences?

    How long does it take to learn dwarf fortress?

    Hey guys,

    i'm a content creator and very experienced with the game "rimworld" who is similiar to dwarf fortress. I know, i know, dwarf fortress is A LOT more complex.

    I dont have much time, but a few hours here and there, thats why i want to know how long it takes to learn dwarf fortress, because i can imagine that this could be a very interesting game for content. But i'm not sure how hard it will be to learn the game, because i remember times where i tried adventure mode and got totally lost in the world.. and in the normal mode i wasnt really good either.

    A few months ago i tried to learn it but i got stuck really fast and maybe you guys can give me a bit hope, because i really like the game but i have no clue how hard it will be to come to a state, where i'm able to play without looking up every control in the game every 10 seconds

    Honestly, his plans sound so ambitious and grandiose that I worry they're not feasible. Anyone else feeling doubt about this?

    I just thought it would be perfect if it was, and for kicks just tried it. It works :D

    Then I hit > to go to the next video and it just increased play speed, but like, cool. Now I just want to make software that's only works via keyboard inputs and follows dwarfy configurations so I can get my fix outside of game time.
