I dedicated the last 6 months to modding dwarf fortress and I came to quite the conclusion. Posted: 07 Apr 2021 02:16 PM PDT For me, the vanilla game is just better. They designed it so delicately so everything is balanced and your choices really determine your world. I loaded up a fresh version of dwarf fortress and it's jut better. I made a goblin mod that really works and feels very goblins, you can even run the world gen for a couple hundred years before getting weird crashes. Everyone is automatically at war with you so it's a rush to get people trained, good thing you have trolls to do your grunt work while you train up. Don't expect all.that junky armor to get you far though. I also have been working on a crash landed alien mod with energy weapons and lua scripts to allow rapid fire and bullets that cause the target to get burnt up by magma, but the vanilla game is just better. Weird how that worked out. [link] [comments]

Road Trip!!! New map new neighbor Posted: 07 Apr 2021 02:26 PM PDT

Posted: 07 Apr 2021 08:28 PM PDT Some see atom smashers and Quantum stockpiles as exploits. If you shoot a minecart at a fortification carved into the side of the map throwing your trash off the map is that an exploit or just good neighborly landfill action? I haven't tried it yet just thought of it, alternatively you could just launch the minecart off at ludacris speed. Was setting up a 36level water pressure column and though about pressure washing stuff off the map and then thought about making it more fun with a minecart cannon. I am under the assumption that once it leaves the map that you are no longer responsible for it. [link] [comments]
