The Fall of the Traitor Queen Xuspgasp Posted: 20 Jan 2021 06:52 AM PST Follow up to a story I already shared: here Our queen Xuspgasp belongs to the goblin civilization and is a high ranking official in it. She sold out our last fort (as well as the capital of another goblin empire we conquered) to her people, and since took over this fort personally to oversee her goals. She dreams of world conquest and was eagerly playing both sides so that she could kill off her rivals. The Goblin Master-demon didn't care about infighting as long as they all still served. So at our new fort she helped devise the plan to defeat the demon hordes locked below. Controlled cave ins and spike tunnels killed almost every single one besides a small group that found the caverns. They were mostly killed, but a few are hiding in the dark and making off spring in a mushroom tree still. After this though an adamantine army of dwarves was put together to retake Reveredarmor. A fort she sold out, but then lost to a rival. Now commanded by a human mercenary she betrayed originally. Reveredarmor is the second largest city in the world with enough defenses to fight off almost any army. Leading the charge:40 dwarves. 20 of whom were legendary warriors. 5 brown recluse spider master warriors and necromancers with their dwarven handler. And an assortment of looted warbeasts. 16 cheetahs and an assortment of rhinos, gorillas, lions, etc The battle was vicious and hard fought, and ultimately won at great cost. Xuspgasp died, ironically because of her own betrayal, just as the enemy seemed beaten they unleashed the war elephants they stole from the original dwarven owners, and they massacred dwarves and killed the queen too. Only defeated at the cost of 4 of the 5 spider warriors. With Xuspgasp dead the reality of her deep betrayal of the dwarven people has become known. Although even though she did betray them all this is the first time in two centuries that any dwarf has been raised outside of the enslavement of goblins, and that had to be credited to her. Her plans to conquer the rest of the world have been thrown out and realized for the cruel thing they were. Kingship was given to a King Cobra citizen. But he lives as a hermit in the ruins of a lost dwarven city filled with ghosts and zombies mourning his failure. So there is no true leader! There's also another problem she created: She had acquired the books of life and death. She planned to only share immortality with her senior administration to rule the world forever, but now immortality was available to all dwarves. What would they do with the opportunity? For now the dwarves continue their labors, and arm their neighbors as the goblins press the war further and further west. [link] [comments] | ||
"Digging Invaders" - the DFHack Plugin Posted: 19 Jan 2021 07:19 PM PST So today I discovered this: https://docs.dfhack.org/en/stable/docs/Plugins.html#digginginvaders That's right: DFhack contains a plugin to enable invaders to both dig, and to remove constructions! Armok be praised, this sounds perfect for bringing challenge back to sieges (as with enough experience in fort-design - especially judicious use of bridge-gates - they can lose the sense of impending doom they carry for a newer player). I'm going to try it out over the next few days - in the meantime:
