☼Bi-weekly DF Questions Thread☼ Posted: 31 Dec 2020 04:08 PM PST Ask about anything related to Dwarf Fortress - including the game, utilities, bugs, problems you're having, mods, etc. You will get fast and friendly responses in this thread. Read the sidebar before posting! It has information on a range of game packages for new players, and links to all the best tutorials and quick-start guides. If you have read it and that hasn't helped, mention that! You should also take five minutes to search the wiki - if tutorials or the quickstart guide can't help, it usually has the information you're after. You can find the previous questions thread here. If you can answer questions, please sort by new and lend a hand - linking to a helpful resource (eg wiki page) is fine. [link] [comments]

My tenth episode, thank you r/DwarfFortress Posted: 01 Jan 2021 09:38 AM PST so, on my youtube channel I'll be at my tenth episode next tuesday at 19h15 GMT+1(not streaming, just uploading vids). Last time I posted here I got a huge response, and I'd lik to thank you all for that. If it wasn't for this subreddit, I might've just stopped at that point. Do drop by if you want, leave a comment or a like. It helps me greatly. not in terms of money, since I'm still waaaaay to small a channel for that, but in terms of emotion. There is nothing quite like getting positive response to what you make. [link] [comments]

I Think I Have Created Decent Parameters For Generating Casual Adventure Stories Posted: 01 Jan 2021 12:17 AM PST I originally wanted to determine realm parameters that would make playing fortress mode ridiculously easy, than I decided after realizing something to generate a world that is as rid of evil as I had a patience for it. I was doing that without any mods. It only has 3 biomes: Mountains (for river reasons), both types of forests and swamps (for river reasons). All the tiles are non-savage and good. I could generate only elves in this world. Hopefully they are biologically immortal. To completely disallow access to the caverns underground I had removed all caves. Forgotten beasts should at this point truly be forgotten. Cave creatures should also be isolated from elves. Volcanic activity is also abscent. No magma monsters. History generates up to 10000 years but you can pause it and ignore large amounts of time progression. There should be 40 civilizations every time you generate it. Between 0-100 rivers are generated. They should be long. The only concern I'm worried about is the fact that alligators are sometimes killed by the elves, possibly because they kill innocent animals. It also takes a long time for the world to form in the river phase for some reason. If by any reason you feel offended by this world having only elves as civilizations you can remove part of the good squares and hope for neutral mountains. Only elves can start from good biomes. Dwarfs should be starting from there. Humans need at least one of the following biomes to start existing: Grassland, savanna or shrubland. Kobolds cannot exist without caves and goblins are abscent with 0 demons. You can also add to they're civilizations files this: [ART_FACET_MODIFIER:GOOD:384] In result they should be as spawnable in good biomes as elves but I leave that to you're decision. [HELP] "Continue Playing" option disappeared but folder and world are still there Posted: 01 Jan 2021 10:48 AM PST I open DF to continue my save but the option is gone, the foleder is still there, DFHack says Continue Playing option not found. Is there a way to recover my save? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Dec 2020 02:10 PM PST As we know, a pet cannot be butchered or caged, and cat adoptions cannot be controlled. I've discovered a way to un-do cat adoptions. I have a militia member who likes cats for their aloofness, and therefore keeps getting adopted by cats. But every time I send her out on a raid, the game unloads her as a unit, and when she returns her pet cats become strays. They remain named, but are stray cats at that point and can be dealt with like any stray animal. Just an interesting tidbit for anyone who has too many adopted cats and needs a way to handle them.
