| My first glacier fortress - beat the SHIT out of a yeti Posted: 01 Apr 2020 09:15 AM PDT But it wasn't impressive. A yeti toppled over one of my workshops, and I decided right then and there that by my pride as a vaguely-established controlling hivemind entity, you do NOT fuck with a dwarf's business like that. So naturally I immediately conscripted all my 7 dwarves to beat the heck out of it, counting on my 3 miners to keep their picks and lodge them somewhere full of blood and organs; things that do not need holes in them. Unfortunately, they did not. They just chased it down, knocked it over,and surrounded it on the ground and punched the HELL out of it like a gangbang gone wrong. I watched for a few minutes while my dwarves gave the boots to the yeti, medium style until they themselves fell unconscious from the effort. They didn't stop when they got tired; they kept going until the dizziness got too much and they passed out. That's something I can respect. Bleeding, bruised, and unconscious, that yeti is alive but will think twice before toppling MY workshops again. This was probably the first time that yeti ever saw a dwarf before in his life, and his very first experience with them was being swarmed and getting the FUCK beat out of him. There's just something hilarious to me, the mental image of a group of bearded midgets wrestling Eddie the Mean Old Yeti to the ground and then punching him in the dick for minutes on end. EDIT: Loadout had a typo, there is 35 units of alcohol. --- Dwarf 1: "The Builder" Summary: I've envisioned this dwarf as sort of "The Leader" of the party. This dwarf's role will be to design and build literally all the things. This dwarf is one of the two "highly-skilled" dwarves in the party. - Skills: - Adequate Building Designer - Novice Carpenter - Novice Mason - Novice Mechanic --- Dwarf 2: "The Doctor" Summary: This dwarf is meant to be the primary doctor of the group, and has a novice in the relevant skills. This dwarf the other "highly-skilled" dwarf in the party. - Skills: - Novice Wound Dresser - Novice Diagnostician - Novice Suturer - Novice Surgeon - Novice Bone Doctor --- Dwarf 3: "The Hunter" Summary: This dwarf is the first of the three, "middle-skilled" dwarves in the party. While I've called this dwarf, "The Hunter" in truth they technically perform several functions within the party. This dwarf serves as the animal trainer, hunter and "bard" of the group. - Skills: - Novice Ambusher - Novice Animal Trainer - Novice Crossbow - Novice Singer --- Dwarf 4: "The Farmer" Summary: The second of the "middle skilled" dwarves, this dwarf serves as the party's primary food producer. Growing the crops, breaking them down into useful foodstuffs and tending to the livestock is the job of this dwarf. An important member of the group. - Skills: - Novice Miller - Novice Thresher - Novice Grower - Novice Milker --- Dwarf 5: "The Cook" Summary: Serving in a role analogous to the Farmer, this dwarf brews the booze and renders down the proceeds of the Hunter and the Gatherers into something safe and edible. This dwarf is the last of the party's "middle skilled" dwarves. - Skills: - Novice Brewer - Novice Cook - Novice Butcher - Novice Fish Cleaner --- Dwarf 6: "The Fish Gatherer" Summary: One of the two Gatherers, who themselves are meant to fill the "expendable" role. Primarily used for wood cutting and mining overall, the Gatherers will be switched to food production once population increases and migrants take up the role of laborers. This particular gatherer is a Fisherdwarf, they provide the fish for the Cook. - Skills: - Novice Fisherman --- Dwarf 7: "The Plant Gatherer" Summary: The other Gatherer, this one gathers plants that the Cook can turn into hooch, as well as supplementing the Hunter and Fisherdwarf's take in with berries and such.
