And you, what modifications do you do to creatures or other elements of DF? [link] [comments]

Lore for "smaller", 550 year worlds is whack Posted: 22 Mar 2020 04:08 AM PDT So I've been generating a whole bunch of "smaller" worlds in Dwarf Fortress with 550 year histories, and my dwarf civilizations are all 60% goblin and stuff, except for one which was a dwarf civ that was completely lacking a king because a necromancer had almost put the finishing touches on wiping everyone out. Even one of my purer civs had some footraces the winners of which were an elf and a goblin. Another one of my less evil dwarf civilizations (not necromancer led etc.) had elf and goblin kings. So I booted up 4.3 and...100% dwarf civilization, no necromancer king, at war with goblins, much less disturbing. I then decided I would make some more worlds just to see if that was a fluke. Sure enough, next couple dwarf civs are goblin-ruled. So it's more a factor of running a small world for long enough that causes dwarves to become ruled by goblins and necromancers. Setting low-savagery seems to help dwarf civilizations remain dwarf-ruled. Mostly though, "smaller" worlds tend to get run over by towers and tend to be either extremely egalitarian or extremely prone to being conquered by deposing a throne whatever it is. "Small" worlds seem to be less extreme in this way. [link] [comments]
