- So this has never happened to me before, but a 79 year old woodcutter just took a tree to the leg and I guess I need a new woodcutter, I'll point out I had also just embarked, clearly my dorfs couldn't wait to have some 'fun', even tho there's a perfectly serviceable volcano I'm digging into.

☼Bi-weekly DF Questions Thread☼ Posted: 29 Feb 2020 04:09 PM PST Ask about anything related to Dwarf Fortress - including the game, utilities, bugs, problems you're having, mods, etc. You will get fast and friendly responses in this thread. Read the sidebar before posting! It has information on a range of game packages for new players, and links to all the best tutorials and quick-start guides. If you have read it and that hasn't helped, mention that! You should also take five minutes to search the wiki - if tutorials or the quickstart guide can't help, it usually has the information you're after. You can find the previous questions thread here. If you can answer questions, please sort by new and lend a hand - linking to a helpful resource (eg wiki page) is fine. [link] [comments]

Necromancer tower inside a Joyous biome... Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:24 AM PST So I just generated a new world and was looking for a place to embark and I noticed this Tower in the middle of a Joyous biome. https://i.imgur.com/oMuNAlR.png I'm not totally sure, but I think right now all Towers are Necromancer towers? My headcannon is they settled in the nicest place they could find to start corrupting it. There is a small amount of Terrifying biome near the tower, inside the Joyous Biome. Never seen anything like that before. [link] [comments]

"Badlands? Well, there is a brook and grass, I'll be fine!" Posted: 01 Mar 2020 08:29 AM PST I'm about to lose with a bunch of FUN for the first time, because I wanted a cool mountainous fort and settled in the badlands. I took my time digging out some rooms and only in autumn started to try and do some farming. I had forgotten that I have no soil inside, so instead I tried planting outside and realized I can't grow my plump helmets there. I then thought to myself, well I'll just build a roof over this area then! Not realizing that DF is very lacking in logic regarding that, as light areas don't become dark again because of a roof. So now I don't have water as the brook is frozen almost always and I can't grow any crops as I don't have soil in the dark and I can't create any either. I guess my last chance is finding the caverns. Well, at least I learned a bunch of new things...! [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Mar 2020 08:34 AM PST My eternally petty dwarves have decided to elect as their mayor the entombed vampire clothier. I just imagine one of them shouting through the wall, "Keep up the good work Cog! You've been doing such a good job churning out socks in your no-distractions box that we've elected you mayor! You can't leave yet though we really need those socks!". [link] [comments]

(lite) Lazy Mac Pack updated for Dwarf Fortress v0.47.04 Posted: 01 Mar 2020 04:18 AM PST changes:
If you don't like the auto-fullscreen Retina setup, it can be disabled by opening the "df_osx v0.47.04" folder and renaming the "df" file to "df-retina" and then renaming the "df-noretina" file to "df". Download link: DFFD: (lite) Lazy Mac Pack [link] [comments]
So stupid question about tilesets... Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:48 AM PST How the hell do I install them? I want to use Spacefox, but I have no idea how to install it. Is there some tutorial? Does someone have it already installed? Do I need to throw someone into the volcano? I just want to find a small region with stone and settle down... Any help would be greatly appreciated and welcomed! [link] [comments]

Necromantic ‘Namekian’, The Demons of Upu Posted: 01 Mar 2020 10:58 AM PST Three-eyed humanoids, they have a pair of squat antennae. Their eyes glow violet. Their black skin is leathery. These night creatures were first created by the human necromancer Upu Authoredfenced in Tombspiraled after horrible experiments on the lesser races in Steppetown in the year 389. Despite the millennia of untold horrors wrought by Upu and the rest of her kind, there are some experiments who escape and return to their former homes, and sometimes even answer the call to adventure. ~~~ One of my favorite necromancer experimental races so far, adventuring as one equipped in bronze armor and wandering the world is so much fun.
