    Dancemanor, home of the worlds longest bridge

    I've always wanted to build an obscenely long bridge to gap continents. World gen gave me a great opportunity but not quite in the way I hoped. Dancemanor sits at the tip of a long peninsula an connects to a large metal rich island that is completely unpopulated.

    The embark site is a 2x8. Surroundings are mild and wild (savage). Metal includes zinc, copper, and silver; nothing to write to the mountainhome about but there are a lot of gems. Site is capped at 30 dwarves.

    Construction begins in earnest.

    It took a while to get the necessary infrastructure up before we could really dedicate ourselves to the bridge. A clothing industry was most important, I've had many upset dwarves due to lack of clothing in the past. We went with fools candy because it is plentiful and aesthetically pleasing.

    Our goal can be seen far off in the distance.

    It took about 4 years to complete the bridge. There was a problem with work orders that went unnoticed for about 9 months so this project could have been completed faster. The actual delay was more like 3 or 4 months, there were a lot of blocks stockpiled.

    Almost done!

    Work complete.

    The bridge itself is 244x5 walkable tiles from end to end. After construction finished we built a tavern fit for a king and gave the dwarves a year off.

    Originally I intended to retire the fort after completing the bridge but the sea is very shallow. Next step is to pump out a large area and build an underwater tavern from clear glass and a nice big tower that connects to a proper fort.

    Necro-factory

    I was planning on starting a fort with just one purpose in mind, to collect abunch of necro artifacts and then create necromancers and send them out into the wild. But I was wondering that if I did do this can necromancer towers still be founded after world generation has ended? If I spent hundred years in fortress mode could I even hope to see new necromancer towers pop up?
