    ☼Bi-weekly DF Questions Thread☼

    Posted: 09 Sep 2021 05:09 PM PDT

Ask about anything related to Dwarf Fortress - including the game, utilities, bugs, problems you're having, mods, etc. You will get fast and friendly responses in this thread.

Read the sidebar before posting! It has information on a range of game packages for new players, and links to all the best tutorials and quick-start guides. If you have read it and that hasn't helped, mention that!

You should also take five minutes to search the wiki - if tutorials or the quickstart guide can't help, it usually has the information you're after. You can find the previous questions thread here.

If you can answer questions, please sort by new and lend a hand - linking to a helpful resource (eg wiki page) is fine.

How would you all feel about a persuasion option similar to RimWorld's?

I've been using certain scripts to "persuade" animal people to join my civilization after they are captured, but do you all think it should be a standard feature?

I realize that Toady has more work to do on the backlog than maybe any other human on Earth, but I wonder how interested people would be in this idea.

How did your first fort go for you?

    Posted: 09 Sep 2021 08:40 AM PDT

By 'first fort' I mean "Ok, I've got the basics down: worskshops, digging, trade, etc.". How did it go? What caused Fun? Did you explore !Science! right away, or keep it simple?

My first ever fort back in 2010 was called Largebusts. This was back in the d40 days. I didn't notice that my home civ was at war with the elves (calling themselves the Pears of Equality) and every spring I'd get sieged by them. Since the military system was much easier back in d40, I'd just send a crew of Legendary wrestlers out after them. The fort eventually died due to FPS issues.
