    Ask about anything related to Dwarf Fortress - including the game, utilities, bugs, problems you're having, mods, etc. You will get fast and friendly responses in this thread.

    Hiya fellow dwarf-torturing enthousiasts

    I like to play as humans but one of the problems is keeping up with the rapid influx of migrants and building structures fast enough. One problem that causes this is that one log produces only one block of wood, so you need to cut/haul a lot of logs to build even a tiny house.

    One time here on the sub someone sent me tips to make a custom building, a lumbermill, which gets about 20 wooden blocks out of a single log. But it was on a previous account since deleted so I can't find it anymore.

    Can anyone please help me out how to mod this in?

    Also while you're all here, would setting a custom nature value for human civilisation so that they naturally respect nature help with the negative mood debuffs from being in the rain?

    How much control do you think dwarves should have

    Something i've been thinking about. To me, Dwarf Fortress is less of a game and more of a simulation, and i play it mostly for the stories i get out of it. For this purpose, i think dwarves should have more autonomy: choose their own jobs, carving out their own homes, choose their own foods, and so on. However, it occurred to me that my experiences are not universal. What direction would you want to see the game go?

    Had my first lucid dream in 2d dwalf-like dream scape ASK ME ANYTHING

    I do normally dream about DF but for the first time i was able to control the dream scape..felt like the adams bros who created this hallowed game
