Posted: 22 Feb 2020 09:14 AM PST I just downloaded the new version of the starter pack and have a completely fresh installation of the game. Yet every time I am trying to run Stonesense in any way (as an overlay or not) it crashes the game. I don't really have any idea what could be causing this. It's happening under Windows natively the same how it does when running it via Wine under Manjaro. Using a Predator Helios 300 and already forced DF to use my graphics card instead of integrated graphics but nothing changed. Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 04:31 AM PST Were the skill level maximum dwarves can arrive increased or am I just super lucky? Because I got a dwarf with Legendary in all fishing skills and he also is a legendary speaker and legendary musician. [link] [comments]
Mussel shells - how do you deal with them? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:43 AM PST I've been loading them into the trade depot, along with one barrel of dwarven wine, and offering them to the dwarven trader. Voila! Gone. How do the rest of you deal with them? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2020 06:01 PM PST With sermons being in the game, as well as the ability to argue for or against values that your character does not hold I think a character should be able to convince someone that someone else's values are not what they are. This would allow the adventurer or npcs to inspire discourse within a site, or between individuals, as well as helping flesh out insurrections and rebellions. Currently, coups are quick, brutal, and have no rising or falling action. They just happen. Imagine if in order for a claimant to gain a stronger claim on a site he has to convince a priest to speak on his behalf slandering the local lord. Depending on how well the priest does determines how successful he is in duping the people into believing their lord doesn't hold their best interests, or into believing the competing claimant can better satisfy the people's needs. This way, rebellions could be stretched out, and possibly spread throughout the city rather than staying in the keep. This would add a demonstrable impact from the roving bands of priests and monks while hopefully being fairly easy to implement and tie into the plots/intrigue/values/religion/etc... Addendum The way I imagine it working is sort of like this Lord 1 Holds Site A --> Lord 2 Wants Site A --> Lord 2 Seeks Priest like a Necro Seeks apprentice (Ulterior goals on the priests end [bribes, power, etc.]) --> Priest goes to Site A and engages the populace sowing discontent by convincing them that Lord 1's values differ from their own --> Priest also tries to convince populace that Lord 2's value do align with theirs (Even if they don't) --> Depending on Priest's ability this could lead to 2 scenarios. Scenario 1: Successfully convinces populace that Lord 1 is bad and Lord 2 is good Outcome 1: Regular Insurrection, open rebellion in the Streets Scenario 2: Successfully convince populace that Lord 1 is bad, but fail to convince populace that Lord 2 is good Outcome 2: Power Vacuum, Lord 2 fails to install himself, essentially doing the work for Lord 3 to come in and convince the people that he/she is right for them. It would also be incredibly interesting if the current lord was able to run counter-propaganda with his own priest/s [link] [comments]

Some thoughts and preferences from Bouldersavants AU Posted: 21 Feb 2020 07:27 PM PST I have decided to take stock of the current thoughts and histories of several dwarves in Bouldersavants during Audum's continued rule. Count Audum After seeing several dwarves die, he values peace over war. He believes this peace can only be attained by his rule over the world. He has been immensely stressed during his rule and has not spoken to his consort in awhile, nor has he talked to any friends. He loves his throneroom and bed. After seeing several dwarves die he feels constant internal rage. Count's Consort Olon Mengseng She has not spoken to her lover in a long time. She finds any display of emotion disgusting (thus harming her relationship with Audum greatly as he enjoys displays of emotion). She is often nervous Dwarven Child Olin Lularavuz She watched her mother slaughtered during a goblin siege at a young age, scarring her for life. Her mother's ghost haunts her constantly while she takes care of her little sister Sibrek. Her few friends are the goblin performers residing in the fortress. The Uzolost Family A mother and her son and daughter reside in the fort. Their father left to conquer a goblin site and never returned home (He didn't die, he just plain deserted apparently). The mom is depressed from her husband leaving her and the children do their best to cheer them up. Those were some highlights from the fort of Bouldersavants. Personally looking through thoughts and preferences is one of my favorite pastimes lol. [link] [comments]
Dwarven art replicated in real life Posted: 21 Feb 2020 02:10 PM PST Since DF has amazing procedurally-generated poetry, music and dance system I reckon someone already tried to reproduce it in real life. Are there any examples of that? Curious to hear some dwarven music or read some poem. EDIT I found this for everyone who are also interested, it's amazing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWCmflVizg8&t=140s [link] [comments] |
