Had my first real “fun” experience. Posted: 06 Nov 2019 04:29 PM PST A beautiful fortress, Calmwaters was, sitting on the southern coast of the continent in a beautiful, serene, peaceful land, founded in the 5th year of recorded time. Sure, construction was a bit slow, leading to a lot of dwarves sleeping in the dining room while their bedrooms were made, but everyone was happy, thanks to the native gold laying about everywhere and abundance of fine meals. Every year the liaison was impressed with our wealth and growth. But not only the liaison took notice. Goblins, living across the northern mountain range, also began to notice the increasing traffic toward our direction. They decided to send a small scouting party, only 10 goblins strong, to see what all the fuss was about. What they found was better than could've been imagined. A grand, rich, *defenseless fortress. The assault was brutal, 10 goblins vs ~120 untrained and unexperienced dwarves, most of whom had probably never seen a goblin in their lives. Blood painted the walls, and those that were not killed were taken by the green menace. Thus quickly ended the tale of Calmwaters, a burning match in a new world. tl;dr : I forgot to make a Military and was absolutely decimated by a goblin attack. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Nov 2019 11:33 AM PST Started a new fortress, all is going well industry booming, military training, earth being stuck. Then 3/4 of the colony die rapidly. Had built 3 stills with work orders, plenty of plump helmets but not assigned any brewers. FUN [link] [comments]

U got recommendations for let's players on YouTube for a newbie? Posted: 06 Nov 2019 03:20 PM PST I'd like to get into Dwarf Fortress but when I start the game off the bat I get analysis paralysis and don't want to play anymore. I don't understand why yet, I have this generally with games that look fun and epic, but are large-scale and have diverse options. I guess it's because I don't want to go through such a long time of beginner's sucking. So I want to get into it slowly and passively by watching others play. On that note, does anyone have a confidently good recommendation of a YouTuber who plays in a comprehensive, well-narrating way for people who are new to the game? Best would be something similar to Pete Completes' RimWorld Ice Sheet Challenge. Aside from that, I enjoy Mah-Dry-Bread playing df with his friend, but I kinda need something else. So thanks for anyone sharing their favorite df lpers or channels. Obviously, anything intermediate or expert would be off the list. [link] [comments] |
